ACDI MPC Reaches Out to Typhoon “Sendong” Victims

This weekend, in the midst of Christmas parties and gift shopping, Typhoon “Sendong” and subsequent flash floods severely ravaged areas in Northern Mindanao. Entire villages were washed away leaving trails of destroyed homes, broken bridges and upended vehicles in the affected areas especially in Cagayan De Oro and Iligan City. An estimated number of 800 people were left dead and 47,000 survivors huddled in different evacuation areas.

While the Government and rescue teams face the problems of health risks and many hundreds of people still missing, concerned citizens have now started giving their help to the unfortunate victims of Typhoon “Sendong”. It is in this light that ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative reaches out again to its fellow Filipinos.

This afternoon, December 20, 2011, ACDI MPC through its Cagayan De Oro Branch, donated boxes of mineral water, instant noodles and canned sardines for the “Sendong” survivors. The donation of relief goods headed by Vice Pres. for Central Mindanao Area Operations Ms. Glenda Lita N. Ersando together with ACDI-CDO Branch Manager Ms. April Rose A. Merino was coursed through ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya for Cagayan De Oro City and to Barangay Ubaldo Laya Council for Iligan City wherein several ACDI members were greatly affected. Enlisted personnel of TOG X also assisted in delivering the said relief goods.

Now, ACDI MPC hopes and prays that our fellow Filipinos who were affected will now be able to slowly cope with the enormous devastation left by the tropical storm.
