ACDI MPC Runs for Coop Month
October is Cooperative Month in the Philippines. ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative is one with the 10,000 registered cooperatives nationwide for the month-long celebration, even made more special with the commemoration of the Centennial Year of the Cooperative Movement in the country.
In the National Capital Region, the CDA-Manila Extension Office, in partnership with the Cooperative Union of Taguig and Pateros (COUNTPA), jumpstarted the Coop Month by staging a fun run dubbed as “Coop on the Go!” on October 3, 2015 at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City. The event was also made possible with overwhelming support from primary cooperatives, which include ACDI MPC as a co-sponsor for the event.
More than 4,000 runners from different cooperatives participated in the event, beating the record for the largest fun run ever conducted in the BGC area. Aside from co-sponsoring the event, ACDI MPC sent a 115-man strong team, proof of its overwhelming support for the entire Coop Community in the country.
Among those who run for ACDI MPC are 10 members from the COL JESUS VILLAMOR Air Base (CJVAB) Branch, most of whom finished the 2.5 km-run among the 20 fastest. Members Mary Rose Maranan and Miracle Bernal finished on the podium for 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
The Fun Run is only the first of the many activities planned in celebration of the Coop Month. A closing activity will be held on October 24 as cooperatives nationwide will converge for the “Coop Centennial Unity Assembly” at the Liwasang Ipil-Ipil (near the World Trade Center) in Pasay City.
