ACDI MPC Gives Aid to Flood Victims
The recent Typhoon “Gener” and the monsoon that followed left a total of 82 cities and municipalities in Metro Manila, Ilocos, Central Luzon and Calabarzon in a very devastating state. Work and classes were suspended for almost a week as flood waters filled the streets of the unfortunate cities hence submerging buildings and homes of thousands of Filipinos. But even in these wretched and harsh events, ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative stands still and extends its light of hope to victims of the recent calamity.
From August 09 to 13, 2012, ACDI MPC head office and branch employees gave aid to the flood-devastated communities by gathering their old clothes, shoes, bags and other items that they intend to give to the victims of the said tragedy. These items and relief goods were immediately packed and donated to families who were temporarily placed in evacuation centers. On August 10, 2012, ACDI-GHQ Branch and ACDI-CJVAB Branch personnel even took a step further as they headed to Brgy. Tumana, Marikina City and Brgy.183 Villamor Air Base, Pasay City to personally distribute the collected relief goods together with the Philippine Air Force 750th Combat Group and 710th Special Operations Wing. All the recipients of the relief goods were truly grateful and appreciative of this act of benevolence.
Truly concerned with its neighboring communities, ACDI-MDAAB Branch, under the Southern Luzon Area Operations, also headed to Sitio Aplaya, Ternate and Brgy. Munting Manipis, Naic, Cavite on August 11, 2012 to also personally donate relief goods to almost 200 affected residents in the said areas. Hon. Lamberto Bambao, Mayor of Ternate, warmly welcomed the group and gave his sincere appreciation for the assistance that the Branch has extended to his constituents.
As of this day, many may have already returned to their homes as floods continue to recede. Although many Filipinos remain homeless and in need of help, ACDI MPC is hoping and praying that with its assistance, the victims would now slowly be able to return to their normal lives and start over with renewed hope.
