ACDI MPC’s Flying School Graduates First Batch of AMT Students
Twenty-three (23) students successfully completed the Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) Course being offered by the Leading Edge International Aviation Academy, Inc. (LEIAAI), ACDI MPC’s Flying School. A graduation ceremony was held at the AMT School in San Fernando Airport, Poro Point Freeport Zone, La Union on April 6, 2016. The event was presided over by MGEN GILBERT S LLANTO (RET), Chairperson of ACDI MPC with BGEN EDGARDO C MENDOZA (RET), President of LEIAAI, and LTC DANILO J VALDEZ PAF (RET), Head of AMT School.
Out of the 23 graduates are 14 scholars of ACDI MPC. Each AMT scholar receives partial to full tuition grant, stipend, meals and lodging allowance, among others. Among the scholars is Laurence Chen who was recognized as the most outstanding student of the batch. He is the son of PO1 Generoso C Chen PN (Ret), member of ACDI-Rosales Branch. Speaking on behalf of the other ACDI MPC scholars, Chen in an earlier interview expressed his gratitude to the leadership of ACDI MPC for the opportunity given to study at a quality school like LEIAAI for free while receiving additional allowances. He lauded the nobleness of ACDI MPC’s commitment to education and helping financially-challenged member-parents send their children to school.
The AMT is a two-year program duly accredited with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP). Completing the AMT Program will make the graduates eligible to qualify for rating examinations on airframe and powerplant maintenance under the mandate of the CAAP.
Aside from AMT course, LEIAAI also offers private and commercial flight trainings. At the end of CY 2015, the School housed 194 students (including AMT). LEIAAI operates 14 training aircraft and two flight simulators with 53 personnel (18 of whom are instructors for flight courses, simulator and AMT).
