Cooperatives Kick-off 2016 Coop Month Celebration

October is Cooperative Month in the Philippines. ACDI MPC, through its more than 100 offices nationwide, is giving its full support and cooperation with the Cooperative Development Authority and the more than 24,000 member-strong Community of Cooperatives nationwide, throughout this month-long celebration.

Earlier in October, ACDI MPC Cagayan de Oro City and Pagadian City Branches joined the kick-off activities in both cities organized by CDA regional offices and local government units. Pagadian City’s Coop Month kick-off activities were held at Plaza Luz on October 1, followed by the celebratory activities held at the Capitol Ground in CDO on October 2.

In the National Capital Region, selected personnel from the ACDI MPC Head Office and NCR branches joined the other coop-members of the Cooperative Union of Taguig and Pateros (COUNTPA) in jumpstarting the Coop Month celebration. The kick-off activity was held at the St. Anne Patio, Sta Ana Church, Taguig City on October 7. During the activity, the “KoopRehabilitasyon Ilog Project” was launched in partnership with the City of Taguig Government.

For 2016, the Cooperative Month Celebrations center on the theme, “Cooperatives: the Catalyst of Change through Poverty Eradication and Social Transformation.” The theme resonates the crucial role and responsibilities of cooperatives in reducing poverty, advancing inclusive growth and promoting social development, especially in the countryside and grassroot communities in the Philippines. As ACDI MPC joins the month-long celebrations, the Cooperative makes its commitments to improving members’ lives and economic upliftment and nation-building louder bolder and more meaningful from today and the years to come.

Expect more involvement from ACDI MPC offices in the upcoming activities for the Coop Month Celebration. Updates will be posted regularly on ACDI MPC’s official website ( and official Facebook Page (
