13th National Coop Summit "Philippine Co-ops: Exceeding the Limits; Sustaining Excellence"
ACDI MPC joined hands with other cooperatives in one of the biggest gathering of the cooperative sector- the 13th National Cooperative Summit dubbed as “Philippine Cooperatives: Exceeding Limits; Sustaining Excellence”. The event was held at SMX Convention Center, Seashell Lane, SM Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City on 24-25 October 2016.
The summit was organized by the Philippine Cooperatives Center (PCC), the apex organization of the Philippine Cooperative Movement PCC. Chairperson Hamilcar Rutaquio formally opened the ceremonies as head of the 13th National Summit Committee. Staunch supporters of the Coop Movement in the Philippines from the government and partner organizations each gave their solidarity messages. They include Former Representative Liza Maza, current lead convenor of the National Anti-Poverty Commission and Representative Rico Geron, Chair of the Committee on Cooperatives and Development – House of Representatives, among others. CDA Chairperson, Orlando R. Ravanera apprised the audience with the current state and developments of the Cooperative Sector. This was subsequently followed by a video presentation on the accomplishments and milestones of the sector in its 100 years of existence in the Philippines. The first day concluded with a solidarity dinner attended by Cooperative key officers and representatives.
The second day of the Summit tackled several issues that are/will be affecting the Coop Sector such as Federalism and the CISA law. Also reported were the results of various efforts of CDA to promote the advancement and growth of local cooperatives as contribution to nation-building. The event formally culminated with a turnover ceremony for the 14th National Cooperative Summit, which will be held in Mindanao in 2017.
An exposition featuring various cooperatives was also held in conjunction with the convention proper. ACDI MPC was among the participating cooperatives that set up booths to showcase their products and services.
